What a car actually costs at PUJ
Four categories, and the difference between them is luggage and ride height rather than badge. Every figure below is the full daily rate, not a base rate waiting to be assembled at a counter.

Every price includes full insurance, taxes and unlimited mileage. Delivery to the terminal is $20, charged once and not per day. The refundable deposit is $200 for a Kia Picanto or Kia Rio and $300 for everything else in the regular catalogue; premium cars are quoted individually. The deposit is always the same figure as your insurance deductible, so one number tells you your worst case.
What is not added at the counter
Four things separate a cheap-looking rate from a cheap week, and none of them are visible on a comparison site.
Insurance sold at the desk. A quote that looks unusually good online often contains no cover at all, and the cover then reappears as compulsory at $15 to $25 a day. Ours is included and the deductible is published before you book.
A deposit that is not a deposit. A held amount you get back is normal; a non-refundable "administration" or "airport" fee is a different thing wearing the same word. Ask which one you are being handed. Ours comes back in cash, in dollars, when the car does.
Fuel policy. Full-to-empty means you buy a tank at the company's price and hand back whatever you did not burn. We work full-to-full, which costs you nothing.
A mileage cap. A 100 km daily limit looks harmless until the day you drive to Santo Domingo and back, which is four hundred kilometres. Ours is unlimited — here that matters more than in most countries, because almost everything worth the drive sits two hours away.
Landing late, or landing delayed
We track your flight number, so a delay moves your pickup without a phone call and without a charge. This is the single most common reason people prefer terminal delivery to a counter that closes.
Between 08:00 and 22:00 delivery to PUJ is $20. Between 22:00 and 08:00 it is a flat $60 anywhere in the served zone — that figure replaces the $20, it is not added to it. If you land at 23:40 and would rather not pay it, collect the car the next morning at our office in Bávaro, on Avenida Alemania, where pickup costs nothing between 08:00 and 22:00.
Macao and Uvero Alto are outside the resort belt and delivery there is $40 during the day.
What the week costs to run
Fuel prices are set weekly by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and are identical at every station in the country, so there is no cheaper station past the airport and no reason to drive anywhere to fill up. In the week of 5–11 September 2026, regular was RD$310.50 a gallon and premium RD$341.10 — roughly US$1.40 and US$1.53 a litre.
For a compact car doing the normal resort-area loop that comes to about US$40 across seven days. A seven-seater is US$70 to US$90 over the same week.
Motorway tolls are the cheapest part of any trip here: RD$100 per booth for an ordinary car, three or four booths between Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, cash only, so keep small notes in the door pocket. Parking is free at every supermarket, mall, beach and restaurant in the area; the informal attendant who waves you into a space expects RD$50 to RD$100 when you leave.
Documents, payment, and what we do not ask for
Bring a passport carrying an entry stamp less than 90 days old and a valid driving licence. That is the whole list. Licences in Latin script are accepted as they are; other alphabets need an International Driving Permit obtained before you travel, and this is not a rule anyone bends at a counter.
No credit card is required to reserve, and none is required to collect the keys. Payment can be cash in dollars, pesos or euros; card by payment link or terminal — Visa and MasterCard, not American Express; USDT; or PayPal with a 6% fee. The deposit can be paid in cash or by card and is returned in cash, in dollars.

Crossing the border is strictly prohibited under the rental agreement. Returns are to the airport, to your hotel in the served zone, or to our office in Bávaro; tell us the plan when you book and we will confirm whether there is a charge.
