Stages of work

  1. 1

Determine what type of car you need

If you are traveling with family or a group of friends, you will need a larger vehicle such as an SUV or minivan.

  2. 2

    Check your documentation

Make sure you have a valid driver's license and that you are familiar with Dominican Republic traffic regulations.

  3. 3

Carefully inspect the car before renting it

Check the car body for damage or scratches and make sure all lights and indicators are working properly. Note any pre-existing damage.

  4. 4

    Sign a car rental agreement

Renting a car in the Dominican Republic can be a convenient and affordable way to explore the island. Enjoy your adventures in the Dominican Republic.

The large premium SUV: everything the GLC does, with more room, more presence and more of everything else, fuel included at 8.7-11.2 L/100 km. Seats and suspension that make the Samana road genuinely pleasant rather than merely tolerable. Worth understanding the width before you book. It is a big car for the streets behind Los Corales and for the Colonial Zone, and if your week is mostly town driving the GLC is the easier one to live with. Take the GLE for distance, for a family that wants space at the top of the range, or for the trip where the car is the point rather than the transport.

Pay attention! Smoking in the car is strictly prohibited. A fine will be imposed for violating this rule.

Renting for a month or longer

A monthly rental of the Mercedes GLE in Punta Cana costs $6720 for 30 days — that is $224 a day, about 25% below the daily rate. Insurance, taxes and unlimited mileage are included, exactly as on a short rental, and the deposit does not change. Long stays are common here: people who work remotely from Bávaro or spend a season in the Dominican Republic usually find a month with us cheaper than repeated weekly bookings. Tell us your dates and we will hold the car for the whole period.

Long-term rental questions

Is there a discount for renting a Mercedes GLE for a month?
Yes. Thirty days cost $6720, which works out at $224 a day — around 25% below the daily rate. Insurance, taxes and unlimited mileage are included, and the deposit stays the same as on a short rental.
What documents do you need for a long-term rental?
A passport with the entry stamp and your national driving licence. We have to see the stamp: a foreign licence is valid in the Dominican Republic for three months from the date you entered the country, so the entry date decides how long you may legally drive.
Can I rent a car for longer than three months?
The car, yes — a foreign licence, no. It stops being valid three months after your entry date, so a longer rental has to be planned around that. Write to us with your dates before you book and we will go through the options together.
